Woher kommst du?
Ich heiße Dhruva Patel und bin Accessoire-Designer vom National Institute of Fashion Technology in Chennai, Indien und wohne in Ahmedabad.

Seit wann designst du?
Das Label "dhruva" wurde im Juli 2008 gegründet. Wir bieten neben Geldbörsen auch Clutches und Handtaschen an, bald folgen Gürtel und Schuhe. Die Kollektionen werden zweimal jährlich auf den Markt gebracht: Herbst/Winter und Frühjahr/Sommer.

Wie und warum entwirfst du genau Taschen?
Taschen designen war immer meine Leidenschaft, denn ohne eine Tasche oder ein Accessoire ist der Look nie fertig und darf nie vergessen werden. Ich mixe Hauptmaterialien wie Leder mit  Canvas, Jacquard, bedruckte und gewebte Stoffe, Seide oder Satin. Vor allem Leder als primitivstes Naturmaterial inspiriert mich, weil es sich nicht nur zum Transport eignet, sondern auch den Körper vor jedem Wetter schützt. Jedes Design wird zudem handgenäht. Ich experimentiere außerdem gerne mit Ornamenten und Formen, die zwar ihre Funktion erfüllen, aber trotzdem speziell sind. Jung, enthuiastisch und selbstbewusst sein sind die Charakteristika meiner Zielgruppe, für die ich die Taschen entwerfe. Jede Kollektion hat zudem etwas besonderes, aktuelle Trends und Farben greife ich aber auch auf. Für die Hardware benutze ich außergewöhnliche Materialien wie Glas, Holz und Acryl. Dies sind alles nützliche Elemente, die zusammengefasst ein ästhetisches Design schaffen. "Dhruva" begann mit dem Bemühen, die täglichen Wünsche der Frauen zu erfüllen, gleichzeitig aber etwas einzigartiges zu schaffen, das den Trägerinnen Individualität und Selbstbewusstsein vermittelt.  Jede Kollektion von mir ist individuell und jedes Design hat ein kleines Geheimnis. Zum Beispiel die Clutch: Sie hat eine abnehmbare Kette, die an verschiedenen Stellen der Tasche wieder drangemacht werden kann. Die Tasche kann also getragen werden, wie man möchte. Jedes Design wertet das Gefühl, wie man die Taschen tragen kann, auf.

Where are you from?
I'm Dhruva Patel an Accessory Designer from NIFT, (National Institute of Fashion Technology), Chennai, India and I'm based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

Since when do you run your own collection?
The brand "dhruva" was born in July 2008. It primarily has a range in Ladies Wallets, Clutches, handbags & will soon venture into belts and footwear. The collections are launched seasonally twice a year, Autumn/Winter & Spring/Summer.

How or why did you start designing bags?
Designing bags has always been my passion, without a bag or an accessory a look is never complete, it's a form of detail which is never forgotten.  The design is brought to life keeping in mind the core material as leather with various other materials like canvas, jacquard, printed & woven fabrics, silk, satin, etc. Leather being the most primitive raw material used in ancient times to carry articles and protect the body against severe weather conditions, has always inspired me as a never ending cycle. Each design is hand sewn to the last stitch. Experimentation with surface ornamentation and forms which follow function is the specialty that each of my designs possesses.
Being young, bold, enthusiastic & confident are the characteristics my designs portray for today's young women who are driven to achieve there goals in life. Each collection has something unique to offer keeping in mind the current fashion trends, color trends along with material explorations for hardware e.g. glass, wood, acrylic etc. Fastening systems, utility elements which puts together a complete aesthetic design.  The brand "dhruva" begun with an endeavor to fulfill every young woman's desire to possess that unique something which gave them a sense of individuality & made them feel confident at every step. Adding a touch of magic with the amalgamation of design, materials, colors and every little detail that makes that little difference. An aim to put together a design that possesses an element of emotion through passion of creating a piece of art which is brought to life with aesthetic features, utility, in various materials and hardware's to put a benchmark in the world of creativity. Each design has a life of its own with a soul brought about with emotion.  The collections by "dhruva" are individual in its own way, each design has its own secret way of wearing, it's according to the individual which makes it special for e.g. In a clutch with a detachable chain wristlet, the chain that can be played with and can be worn any way the wearer is comfortable with to add a personal touch which makes it your own. Every design perks up your sense of touch & imagination.
