Handbagdesigner Interview: Bruno Laurenzano

Nachwuchsdesigner sind nach wie vor wichtig, weil sie nicht nur frischen Wind in die Mode bringen, sondern uns auch mit ihren außergewöhnlichen Designs bereichern. Wir werden euch ab heute regelmäßig aufstrebende Nachwuchs-Taschendesigner in kleinen Kurzinterviews vorstellen. Den Anfang macht Bruno Laurenzano vom Label Villadoro.

Woher stammst du?
Ich komme aus Salerno, einer Stadt im Süden Italiens, sehr nah an der Amalfitanischen Küste. Aber ich lebe bereits seit zehn Jahren in Mailand.

Wie heißt dein Label?
VILLADOR

Wie bist du auf den Namen gekommen?
Er stammt vom Haus meiner Großeltern an der Amalfitanischen Küste. Es ist ein sehr großes Haus, umgeben von Zitronenbäumen und "gelben Gold". Der Name des Hauses ist "Villa Dorata" - der Name meines Labels ist also eine Omage an meine Familie.

Was inspiriert dich?
Ich lasse mich vor allem von der italienischen Couture von Valentino der 50er-Jahre beeinflussen, gemixt mit dem Glamour-Style der Halston-Ära und dem amerikanischen Style der 70er in Farben des Dekantismus.

Welche Materialien verarbeitest du?
Ich verwende ausschließlich hochwertiges Leder wie Python, Alligator, Karung, Tejus und französisches Nappaleder.

Seit wann kreierst du deine eigenen Kollektionen?
Momentan verkaufe ich meine dritte Kollektion und arbeite an meiner vierten für Frühjahr/Sommer 2010.

Warum entwirfst du Taschen?
Ich stamme zwar aus der Pret-a-Porter, liebe aber Taschen. Zudem finde ich, dass jede Frau sehr elegant und chic mit Jeans und einem T-Shirt aussehen kann - aber Taschen und Schuhe sind dabei absolut wichtig!

Stellst du auf Messen aus?
Ich denke darüber nach, vielleicht während der nächsten Tranoi in Paris.

Where are you from?
I'm from Salerno, a town in the south of Italy, very close to the Amalfitana coast. But I live in Milano since ten years.

What is the name of your label?
The name of my label is VILLADOR.

What is the idea behind the name?
The name of the brand comes from my grandparents home at the Amalfitana cost. It is a big house surounded by lemon trees, I call it "yellow gold". The name of this house is "Villa Dorata" - so the brand is an omage to my family!

What is the inspiration behind your collection?
The inspiration is the 50s italian couture of Valentino mixed with the glamour-style of Halston and the American style of the 70s. All with French decadentism palette of coulours.

What kind of materials do you use?
I only use pregiate leather, like pyton, alligator, karung, tejus and french plougé nappa.

Since when do you run your own collection?
I'm on my 3rd collection now and working on my 4th collection F/W 2010.

How or why did you start designing bags?
My background is from Pret-A-Porter collections but I love bags. I also think that a woman is very elegant and chic with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt - but bags and shoes are absoluty important, too!

Do you exhibit on trade fairs?
I'm thinking about fairs, maybe I will exhibit at the next Tranoi in Paris.
