Where are you from?
I am half Italian, half German.
What is the idea behind the name?
The name was born out of my full name Alexandra Buffardi de Curtis, but I wanted something memorable and more fun that I could associate with my first collection of baby changing bags so I added the bee symbol.
What is the inspiration behind your collection and how or why did you start designing bags?

Alexandra de Curtis launches her SS’10 collection at Spazio Lattuada in Milan introducing a new line of minimalist and elegant handbag designs using fine Italian calfskin and suede, and South African ostrich skin. The collection features six handbag styles, a wallet and a coin purse that combine innovative shapes with high-end design and modern functionality.
Alexandra's signature is the distinctive interior of her bags; the many pockets are designed to carry all women’s essentials: blackberry, i-pod, lip-gloss, mobile, passport, and even an extra pair of shoes! The collection is available in Rose, Indian Pink, Indigo Blue, White, Brandy, Brown and Black.
Alexandra knows that women want style and ease of use from a handbag. For that reason, her collection carries subtle design elements such as hidden pockets and luxurious suede-lined interiors. The size of the bags ensures that there is enough room for necessities and more.
Passionate about design from an early age, Alexandra de Curtis started the company in May '06, following the discovery of a gap in the market for stylish baby bags. Following the yummy mummy trend, she created her first line with working women and mothers in mind, and drew inspiration from her many travels and friends.
This is her second collection after taking some time off to be with her family, following the birth of her daughter Mia. Even though this new collection is more fashion forward, every piece is named after a baby girl born to a friend in the last year. With each piece hand crafted in Rome, Italy, Alexandra’s handbags assure the highest standard of quality.

Alexandra Bee was born in 2006.

I have exhibited at Spazio Lattuada in Milan, Pure London, Accessories the Show in NYC.

100% Italian Calfskin and Suede and 100% South African Ostrich.
