Was ist der Name deines Labels?
Im Moment habe ich zwei Label: Zum einen „Shalon Handbags“, eine Kollektion mit hochwertigen Taschen, hergestellt in Italien und „Fatbags by Shalon“ als Kinder und Teenager Serie. Außerdem wird es in naher Zukunft auch noch ChelseaBelle by Shalon mit Taschen und Accessoires aus Italien geben.
Was ist die Idee hinter dem Namen?
Die Kollektionen sind nach mir benannt. ChelseaBelle ist nach meiner ältesten Tochter Chelsea benannt. Ich wollte eine Luxuskollektion entwerfen und somit eine Legende kreieren, an die man sich auch noch in vielen Jahren erinnert, wie es auch Größen, wie Chanel, Chloe und Loius Vuitton gemacht haben. Daher habe ich sorgfältig nach einer der besten Manufakturen in Italien gesucht.
Was war die Inspiration deiner Kollektion?
Ich versuche ziemlich original zu sein. Ich mag es nicht, wenn ein Luxusdesigner ein schönes Stück entwirft, nur um danach Taschen unter demselben Image zu entwerfen und nur einige Details zu verändern. Wie man an meiner kleinen Kollektion sehen kann ist alles original und ähnelt sich in keinem Teil. Ich frage meinen Hersteller immer nach Metallen und Accessoires, die einzigartig und speziell für mein Design sind.
Seit wann hast du eine eigene Kollektion?
Ich arbeite seit 2006 an meiner Kollektion. Ich produzierte erst nur eine Tasche und warb damit diese zu testen. Auf die Art der Reaktionen, die ich zurück bekam war ich nicht vorbereitet. Ich bekam eine „Oscar Suites“ Einladung und ein Celebrityunterstützung, durch einen Red Carpet und TV Auftritt. Meine Kollektion war noch nicht fertig und ich hatte schon weitere Anfragen.
Wie hast du damit angefangen Handtaschen zu entwerfen?
Schon seit der High School malte und entwarf ich Buchcover. Ich eröffnete eine Boutique mit meiner Schwester und fing an in Vollzeit zu designen.
Stellst du auf Messen aus?
Ich habe noch auf keiner Messe ausgestellt, aber ich plane bald auf der „WSA Show“ in Vegas auszustellen.
Welche Materialien benutzt du in deiner Kollektion?
Ich benutze nur italienisches Leder, welches ausschließlich in Italien produziert und zu Taschen verarbeitet wird. Meine Kinderkollektion wird in China hergestellt um Kosten zu sparen und die Taschen zu einem günstigeren Preis dort anzubieten.

What is the name of the label?
Currently I have 2 labels in production, Shalon Handbags, a high end Italian manufactured line and Fatbags by Shalon and kids and teen line. There is also ChelseaBelle by Shalon to be produce in the near future which will consist of Italian manufactured bags and accessories also.
What is the idea behind the name?
The lines were all name after myself and ChelseaBelle was name after my oldest daughter Chelsea. I wanted to produce a high end line that would create a legacy that would carry on for many years as other great names have done such as Chanel, Chloe and Louis Vuitton. That is why I chose to carefully select one of the best Italian manufacturers in the business.
What is the inspiration behind your collection?
I try to be very original. I don't like to see a high end designer create a beautiful piece only to have lower market company's bags created under the same image with only a few of the details changed. As you can see from my small collection everything is original and not resembling that of anyone elses. I always ask my manufacturer to locate studs, grommets and accessories that are unique and specific to my design.
Since when do you run your own collection?
I have been working on my collection since 2006. I produced one bag and advertised it to test the waters. I wasn't prepared for the type of response I received. I received and Oscar Suites invite and a celebrity endorsement which turned into a red carpet and television appearance. My line wasn't complete and I had begun receiving request for more.
How or why did you start designing bags?
I have been drawing and designing on book covers since high school. I opened a retail clothing boutique with my sister shortly after and from there I went on to designing full time.
Do you exhibit on trade fairs?
I have not exhibited in any trade shows as of yet, but I plan to in the very near future.

What kind of materials do you use in your collection?
I use all Italian leathers produced only in Italy as well as manufacture the bags there. My kids line is produced in China to cut cost and allow the bags to be offered at a more affordable price.
