Woher kommst du?
Aus Slowenien und arbeite und studiere in Ljubljana.

Wie heißt dein Label und welche Idee steckt dahinter?
Es heißt I-Bag und steht als Abkürzung für Identity-Bag. Eins der wichtigstens Features meiner Taschen ist die abtrennbare Abdeckung - sie wird nämlich mit einem open-end Reissverschluss an der Tasche befestigt und kann abgenommen und ersetzt werden. Dadurch kann der Look der Tasche immer geändert werden und den Wünschen und Bedürfnissen angepasst werden.

Was inspiriert dich und welche Material verwendest du?
Als Inspiration für die identity-Kollektion diente Streetstyle, vor allem der Lifestyle von Großstädter, die ich auch städtische Nomade nennen würde - immer auf Reisen und auf der Suche nach Veränderungen. Die heutige Stadt hat ihre ganz eigenen Regeln und verlangt immer wieder Veränderungen. Unsere Identität wird dadurch ein Mix aus verschiedenen Rollen, die wir spielen. Der moderne Individualist verändert sich mehrmals täglich und die I-Bag soll vor allem aktive, dynamische und unverwechselbare Stadtmenschen widerspiegeln. Die Taschen sind vor allem sehr praktisch, aber auch modisch. Ich verwende verschiedene Materialien. Manche sind aus Leder, einige aus Kunststoff.

Seit wann designst du?
Ich arbeite für mein Label seit 1 1/2 Jahren, entwerfe Kleidung und Accessoires jedoch bereits seit sechs Jahren.

Wieso entwirfst du genau Taschen?
Am Anfang hatte ich ein Konzept: Ich war auf der Suche nach einer guten Idee, eine Inspiration, die mich führt, wenn ich designe. Ich habe in der Zeit viel gelesen und visuelles Material wie Fotos, Skizzen und Stoffe gesammelt. Ganz wichtig sind auch die Leute, die meine Taschen kaufen. Als ich mit meiner neuen Kollektion angefangen habe, hatte ich immer eine genaue Idee im Kopf, wie es aussehen sollte, obwohl es sich während der Arbeit immer wieder veränderte. Ich arbeite also sozusagen mit Puzzle-Teilen: Ich bin immer auf der Suche nach Geschichten, Fotos, Gedanken, Ideen und Gefühlen, die ich miteinander verarbeite. So entsteht ein völlig neues Bild mit seiner eigenen Idetität und Geschichte.

Stellst du auf Messen aus?
Letzten Monat war ich auf der "Design Expo", eine Messe in Ljubljana. Im Sommer stelle ich an der "Design Assembly" in Graz aus. Neben den Messen organisiere ich aber auch meine eigenen Ausstellungen. Die erste hieß Urban Tribe und ich habe 14 verschiedene slowenische Künstler eingeladen teilzunehmen und jeder von ihnen entwarf drei Abdeckungen für die I-Bag. Die Ausstellung fand ich Österreich, Kroatien und Slowenien statt. Dieses Jahr stelle in der Ausstellung "Fashion on the Crime Scene" und "Windows" aus.

Where are you from?
I'm from Slovenia. Working and studying master in Ljubljana.

What is the name of your label and what is the idea behind the name?
The name of the label is I-Bag, it's short for identity-bag. One of the most important features of my bags is that the cover is separable - it is attached to the bag with open-end zipper and can be therefore removed and replaced. The user can constantly change the look of the bag and transform it according to his needs and wishes. Or, as the slogan says: I-Bag does not dictate, it inspires the style.

What is the inspiration behind your collection and what kind of materials do you use?
The inspiration for the identity collection is street life. Or more specificaly: the lifestyle of an urban citizien which is like one of an urban nomad - constantly travelling and transforming because contemporary city life has its own specific rules. It demands constant transformation and adaptation and our identity becomes a mixture of different roles we’re playing. The modern individual is constantly morphing through the day while performing different activities. I-Bag is designed for active, dynamic and distinctive urban people and it is a reflection of our personality. A mobile home, hiding and revealing our possessions at the same time. It is multifunctional, transformable, extremely practical and fashionable at the same time. I use different types of material. Some bags are made out of leather, some out of synthetic fabrics.

Since when do you run your own collection?
I started to work on my brand a year and a half ago, but I've been designing clothes and accessories for six years.

How or why did you start designing bags?
I start with the concept: I always need a good idea, an inspiration which leads me when I'm designing. I read, search for visual material, photos, sketches, fabrics and collect all the pieces to make a new story. I also think about the user, what are his/hers needs or wishes. When I start to draw a new collection I already have an idea in my head of how it should look like, althhoug it changes while I work on it. It is a process. For me it's like playing with puzzles: I keep collecting pieces of stories, moods, feeling, pics, thoughts and ideas. I can feel it when everything just connects into a new, whole picture, with its own identity and tells a story by itself.

Do you exhibit on trade fairs?
Last month I exhibited in Design expo, a fair which is a part of "Month of Design" in Ljubljana. In the summer I exhibited at "Design Assembly" in Graz. Besides the fairs I organize my own exhibitions. The first one was called "Urban Tribe" and I invited 14 different slovenian artists to participate and each of them designed three covers for I-Bag. The bag is like a mobile frame and the streets became a gallery. The exhibition was shown in Austria, Croatia nd Slovenia. This year I exhibit in the exhibition "Fashion on the crime scene" and "Windows".
